Oldham Family Practice is proud to support our UK Armed Forces veterans. If you have ever served in the British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, or Reserves, please let our reception team know. Flagging your status in your NHS medical notes helps us better understand any service-related health conditions you may have and ensures we can refer you to dedicated ex-forces services.
📋 Why It Matters (And What to Do Next)

Transfer Your Medical Records: If you have recently left the Armed Forces, please hand in the medical paperwork given to you by your military medical centre. This ensures your military health record transfers smoothly to your NHS record and prevents any gaps in your ongoing care.

Priority NHS Care: All veterans are entitled to priority access to NHS care (including hospital, primary, or community care) for conditions related to their service. Note: This is always subject to clinical need and does not allow you to jump ahead of patients with more urgent medical needs.

Speak Up: If you are referred for hospital or specialist treatment, please remind the healthcare team that you are a veteran to ensure you receive the priority care you are entitled to.

Are You Moving? If you are moving to a new area and are currently on an NHS waiting list, let us know so we can ensure your waiting list details are transferred over correctly.

If you have a complex, lifelong health condition resulting from your service, you may be eligible for the Veterans Personalised Care Programme. This program is designed to give you more choice, control, and support.
If eligible, you will receive:

A Single Care Plan: A personalised plan for all your health, social care, and wellbeing needs, created in partnership with you, the NHS, and military charities.

A Personal Health Budget: In some cases, a budget to help pay for the specific care and support that works best for you.

Community Support: Better access to emotional and practical help, including peer support from others with similar health conditions.
