💚 Macmillan Cancer Information & Support (Oldham)

If you, a family member, or someone you care for has been affected by a cancer diagnosis, you do not need a GP referral to access specialist Macmillan support. There are dedicated teams right here in Oldham ready to help you with clinical advice, emotional support, and practical or financial guidance.

You can refer yourself directly to these local, free services:

1. The Macmillan 1-1 Support Team (Oldham)

This community-based service supports adults (aged 18+) with a cancer diagnosis who live in Oldham or have an Oldham GP. Their qualified nurses and support workers assist you from diagnosis, through treatment, and beyond to help you live well.

  • What they offer: 1-1 support (face-to-face or by phone), signposting to local services, and community health and wellbeing events.

  • How to refer: You can self-refer directly by calling 07523 938532 (or 0161 785 5609), or by emailing oldham.macmillansupport@nca.nhs.uk.

2. Royal Oldham Hospital Macmillan Information Centre

A free, drop-in resource centre for patients, family, and friends affected by cancer.

  • What they offer: Confidential advice on cancer-related issues, help talking to children about cancer, wig and headscarf services, free hospital parking schemes, and benefits/financial advice.

  • How to contact: Call 0161 656 1026, email macmillan.infocentre@nca.nhs.uk, or drop in between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

3. The Christie at Oldham – Macmillan Information Centre

Located at The Christie radiotherapy centre on the Royal Oldham Hospital site, offering free, confidential support and practical help (including mind wellbeing sessions and hand care).
